President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Aaron Kanor as Acting Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), effective immediately.
Mr. Kanor brings over three decades of experience in revenue mobilisation, border security, and trade facilitation within the GRA.
According to GRA in a statement, prior to his appointment, he served as Officer in Charge of Port Operations, where he supervised key customs functions including revenue collection, enforcement, and trade facilitation.
Over the years, he has held several senior positions, including Sector Commander at Kotoka International Airport and Wa Collections, as well as Chief Revenue Officer in various operational areas.
His leadership is credited with strengthening border controls, curbing smuggling, uncovering invoice falsification schemes, and disrupting criminal networks involved in vehicle identification manipulation.
He has also played a role in advancing modernization initiatives within the Customs Division, including the implementation of electronic valuation systems and reforms aimed at improving operational efficiency and reducing cargo clearance times.
The Ghana Revenue Authority said his appointment is expected to reinforce customs administration, enhance compliance, and support Ghana’s economic growth through secure and efficient trade systems.
The Authority also expressed appreciation to the outgoing Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, for his service.
