The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has formally distanced itself from the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), citing neglect and a lack of respect.
In a statement signed by the Association’s Head of Communications, Benjamin Takyi Addo, the leadership said it would not participate in any GUTA activities following the union’s failure to officially invite them to the inauguration of its newly elected president.
“We, the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association, will not involve ourselves in any activities organized by GUTA because we were not officially invited to the inauguration of their new president,” the statement read.
The Association expressed disappointment at being ignored and sidelined during GUTA’s official programs, describing the omission as undermining unity and cooperation among trader groups in Ghana.
The leadership emphasized that mutual respect, inclusiveness, and proper communication are essential for effective collaboration among trade associations. Until these concerns are addressed, the Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association says it will maintain its stance.
