Achimota Senior High School has emerged as the winner of the 2025 Annual Impact Round-table Discussion and Robotics Competition (AIRTAD 2025).
The competition, held last Wednesday February 26, 2025 in Accra, brought together four teams: Achimota Senior High School, Accra Academy, Yamoransa Lab 3.1 (YM Lab 3.1), and Yamoransa Lab Liberia (YM Lab Liberia). It served as a key highlight of the two-day AIRTAD 2025 conference.
Promoting STEAM Education in Africa
AIRTAD 2025 was organised by IMPLEMENTERS, a non-profit project management organisation, in collaboration with the Helping Africa Foundation (HAF). The conference, themed “The Yamoransa Model Impact Year: Scaling the Successes of Bridging Educational Gaps with Technology,” aimed to celebrate and assess the progress of the Yamoransa Model Labs Programme—an initiative dedicated to advancing Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education across Africa.
The Yamoransa Model Labs Programme provides solar-powered ICT centres equipped with educational content, multimedia resources, robotics workspaces, augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) learning tools, and 3D printing facilities to selected communities. The initiative is funded by the Helping Africa Foundation in partnership with the Ministry of Education in various African countries.
Contest Results and Highlights
At the end of the four-round contest, Achimota Senior High School claimed victory with an impressive 86 points. YM Lab Liberia followed closely with 80 points, while YM Lab 3.1 and Accra Academy secured 78 and 53 points, respectively.
The competition tested students’ skills in coding, engineering, and problem-solving, while also providing a platform to showcase innovative projects developed within the Yamoransa Model Labs. These projects highlighted the transformative role of technology-driven education in addressing learning gaps.
AIRTAD 2025 reinforced the importance of integrating technology into education to empower the next generation of African innovators and problem-solvers.
