Ghana’s sensational professional golfer, Vincent Torgah, displayed tenacity at the nation’s premier golf club in Achimota to clinch this year’s edition of the PGA Captain’s Prize Tournament.

Speaking briefly after a short ceremony at Achimota Golf Club, Vincent Torgah expressed his gratitude to the captain, sponsors and the organizing committee for the three-day golf tournament which he believes would shape the professionals ahead of upcoming tournaments.

Achimota based pro, Alfred Kwame grabbed the second spot despite his brilliant strokes on the final day leaving E .K Osei with the third prize cash.

In the senior’s pro category, Veteran Emos Korblah stepped forward for the first spot after beating Dawuda Mahama and Stephen Klah to the second and respectively.

The competition had support from a number of firms, including Tang Hang Hotel, Frencia, Micasso, Main land Hotel, and MDV, among others.

In the amateur category of the same competition, Jan Vogel and Helen Appah were triumphant in the senior, while Juliet Darkwah and Charity Vogel lost the first spot to Hajia Zenabu Sulemana in the ladies group B division. Toni JC Bakawa beat the likes of Kevin Amedoh and Kojo Acheampong in the men’s group B event.

Phindo Mohlala Pamela Ewoenam Atila and Letitia Amponsah-Mensah were the first three finishers respectively in the ladies group A whiles Patrick Mensah bagged in 68 netscore ahead of Solomon Allotey and Percival Amponsah for the main men’s trophy of the amateurs competition.

In an interview, Captain of the PGA, John Mawuli Nyarko, expressed his excitement about the success of the tournament and thanked the golfers, sponsors, and the other organizing team.

He urged the golfers, especially the pros to remain disciplined, continue with their daily practice sessions at their various clubs and be ready for the Giti Tyres President Putter golf championship which will be staged at the Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono.
