Member of Parliament for Weija-Gbawe and Deputy Minority Whip in Parliament, Jerry Ahmed Shaib, is extolling his fellow leadership member, Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s qualities and competences.
The two men are in the leadership of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) minority caucus in the legislature and have been working closely together in the four-month old 9th Parliament.
Mr. Shaib said Leader Afenyo-Markin had demonstrated commitment to improving mentees and giving others the needed space to improve.
“He’s a great mentor. Great in a sense that he gives you the room to learn,” he said on Starr Chat with Bola Ray. “That for me, is key. Afenyo will give you the opportunity.”
He rubbished assertions that the Minority Leader was arrogant, noting that it did not suit fellow lawmaker’s character.
“He is the least of arrogant persons I’ve ever met and I’m being very honest with you. Sometimes he actually overdoes it and for me, I think it is the innate politics in him but for people to call him arrogant, that will be the last description,” the parliamentary whip said.
During the interview, he described the NPP caucus as the “mighty minority,” a phrase the opposition has coined to push back against the “micro-minority” tags.
