The Ajumako Enyan Essiam District Assembly has provided support to 53 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in the district through the donation of livelihood-enhancing items.
The initiative, part of a broader government effort to empower vulnerable groups, aims to reduce street begging and improve living standards.
Items distributed included fufu pounding machines, cassava processing machines, fridges, and other equipment to help beneficiaries generate income.

The presentation ceremony was led by the District Chief Executive (DCE), Andrews Kojo Duodu, who highlighted that the program fulfills a key campaign promise by the President to economically uplift PWDs and other disadvantaged groups.
“Over 500 individuals applied for support in the district, and 50 beneficiaries are receiving items in this first batch. Distribution of the remaining items is ongoing,” Duodu stated.

He urged recipients to use the items responsibly to benefit their households.
Mr. Eric Frimpong Boateng, Head of Social Welfare and Community Development for the district, added that the Assembly would monitor the proper use of the items and advised beneficiaries against selling them or returning to street begging.
In response, the beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the President and pledged to make good use of the support. They also noted that the quantity and quality of items and financial assistance had increased compared to previous government efforts and appealed for continued backing.

“This support will help us improve our livelihoods. We encourage our colleagues not to sell the items given to them but to use them wisely,” beneficiaries remarked.
The initiative underscores the government’s commitment to empowering PWDs and fostering economic inclusion in the Ajumako Enyan Essiam District.
