The Member of Parliament for Akim Oda, Hon. Alexander Akwasi Acquah, has expressed deep outrage over a recent act of vandalism and theft at the St. Andrews Basic School in the Akim Oda Constituency.
In a press statement issued on May 16, 2025, the MP described the incident as a “despicable act” and a direct attack on collective efforts to enhance education in the area. According to him, unidentified individuals maliciously removed roofing sheets and stole desks meant for school children.
“This is not only a betrayal of our values as a community, but a sabotage of the future of our children who deserve safe and conducive environments for learning,” he stated.
Hon. Acquah assured affected pupils, teachers, and parents that the matter is being taken seriously. He indicated that he is in close contact with the Ghana Police Service and has requested an immediate investigation to bring the perpetrators to justice.
“We will not tolerate criminal behaviour that undermines our development,” he stressed.
The MP also revealed that he is collaborating with the Municipal Assembly and relevant stakeholders to mobilize resources for the swift restoration of the damaged infrastructure, to ensure that learning is not unduly disrupted.
