The Attorney-General has charged Alhaji Seidu Abagre, 78, a retired teacher, with charges including acting as a Bawku Naaba without qualification.
Alhaji Abagre, 78, has pleaded not guilty to the charges before the High Court presided over by Justice Alimah El-Alawa Abdul Basit.
Alhaji Abagre, who was arrested on December 24, 2025, pleaded not guilty after the Deputy Attorney General, Dr. Justice Srem-Sai, read the brief facts to the Court.
The charges are: acting as a chief without qualification, contrary to Section 63(a) of the Chieftaincy Act, 2008 (Act 759); provocation of riot, contrary to Section 200 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29); offensive conduct conducive to breaches of the peace, contrary to Section 207 of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29); and fighting with weapons, contrary to Section 203(a) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
