Azumah Resources Ghana Limited, an indigenous mining firm owned by Engineers and Planners has signed a $37 million deal with global technology giant FLSmidth. The deal covers long-lead equipment such as gyratory crushers, SAG and ball mills, screening systems, pumps.
The firm is also expected to provide refinery technologies needed for the Black Volta Gold Project processing plant. FLSmidth per the deal will also provide engineering, installation, and commissioning support as Azumah advances toward first gold production from the Volta Gold Project in 2027.
Speaking to the media after the signing of the agreement at a short ceremony at Marriot Hotel in Accra on Friday December 12, 2025, Chief Executive Officer for Azumah Resources Ghana Noel Nii Addo underscored the importance of the partnership in building a world class mine.
In a subsequent press statement, management of Azumah Resources revealed the “signing ceremony and equipment order placed, the Black Volta Project Construction & Development to first gold has commenced.”
“As an indigenous Ghanaian owned mining company – Azumah Resources Gh Limited, has chosen FLSmidth (FLS) as its strategic technology partner and supplier of all major equipment’s and main process technologies owing to the 140years + global expertise of FLS in the mining ecosystem, the quality of its equipment and robustness of its brands. The initial order for the long-lead equipment and associated technical support services is valued at approximately USD 37million. The equipment is due to be delivered during 2026, ahead of mine start-up date in 2027.” The statement disclosed.

As part of the long-lead equipment, FLS is expected to supply among other equipment: gyratory crushers, raptor cone crusher, SAG and ball mill, A pre-leach thickener, Screens, apron feeders KREBS cyclones, Pumps. The order also includes equipment for absorption, desorption and refining and detoxification.
FLS is also expected provide technical support to the EPC contractor during the detailed engineering phase and site support for erection and installation, start-up, commissioning and site training. In addition, the order includes spare parts as well as a performance guarantee for the process equipment.
Vice President in charge of mining Capital for Europe, Arabia and Africa for FLSmidth Alistair McKay on his part assured his outfit will deploy the state-of-the-art technology to ensure maximum output for the Black Volta Gold Project.
