Former Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Michael Osei Boateng, has described Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the best person to provide leadership and hope for Ghana’s future.
Speaking on The Verdict on Starr 103.5 FM on Tuesday, April 29, 2026, Mr. Boateng urged young people in the country to remain calm, insisting that their current challenges would be better addressed under the leadership of Dr. Bawumia.
“I would tell the youth of this country to calm down… I know that the best person to give us hope, the best person to deliver is Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia,” he said.
He argued that the expectations of Ghanaians under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had not been met, particularly in relation to job creation and improved living conditions.
“We thought that they were going to give us better lives, we thought that they were going to give us employment opportunities as they promised… but as it is now, we are only getting doomsaw, we are only getting increased unemployment rates,” he stated.

Mr. Boateng also defended Dr. Bawumia’s record, noting that although he has previously served as Vice President, he has not yet had the opportunity to lead the country as President.
“Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has never been a president, he was just a vice… but because his name rings a bell always, they think that he was the president,” he said.
He expressed confidence that given the opportunity to lead, Dr. Bawumia would demonstrate his capabilities and deliver results.
“I know that when he gets to the throne, he will do a lot… we will always give you someone who can help solve our challenges,” he added.

Mr. Boateng further argued that despite global economic shocks such as COVID-19 and the Russia-Ukraine conflict, past administrations had taken steps to manage challenges, and insisted the current situation required renewed leadership to address economic difficulties.
