The Ghana Police Service, Bono East Regional Command, has confirmed that calm has been restored in Kwame Danso following a violent attack on the District Court and Police Headquarters on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
According to the police in a statement, around 100 youths stormed the Kwame Danso District Court while it was in session, vandalizing property and forcibly freeing two accused persons who were standing trial. The mob also assaulted the complainant in the case.
The group later moved to the District Police Headquarters, where they attacked two officers on duty and caused further property damage.
Reinforcements from the Atebubu Division and the Formed Police Units (FPUs) were deployed to restore order.
On the instructions of the Inspector-General of Police, the Kwame Danso Police Station has been temporarily closed, and personnel reassigned to other areas in the region.
The Bono East Regional Police Command assured the public that all individuals involved in the attack would be pursued and brought to justice.
“Perpetrators will be identified, arrested and made to face the full consequences of the law,” said ASP Appiah Danquah, Acting Public Relations Officer for the region.
