Scores of people have been rendered homeless at Assin Fosu in the Central region after a dreadful storm hit the town Tuesday, as NADMO officials there struggle to provide them relief assistance.
School activities have also been grounded to a halt as schools in the area were also ravaged by the rainstorm.
Some of the schools affected include D.C.B JHS, 31st December Women Movement JHS, Anglican JHS, and S.D.A JHS among others.
Communities affected by the rainstorm include Pantoase, Butuase, Abesoa, Mempaasem among others.
No death has been recorded yet.
The recent rainstorm is the fourth to hit the region in the last two weeks causing severe damage to lives and property as a life was lost in the Agona Swedru rainstorm last week.
Speaking to Starr News’ Central Region Correspondent Kwaku Baah-Acheamfour, the Assin North Municipal Disaster Officer Moses Afadzi said there are no relief items available to support the victims of the rainstorm.
He explained that the regional NADMO is yet to respond to their plight as they have sent an assessment of the situation to the regional office.
“It is rather unfortunate my organization or outfit has not been able to provide any relief assistance to the victims so far,” he said.
Asked how are the victims were coping, he said: “That is one challenge we are facing as far as those affected are concerned.”
He, however, assured that they are working around the clock to ensure that relief assistance are provided to the victims.
