Domestic airline, PassionAir, says it has reduced fares across all local routes by 10% from today, Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
The move comes in direct response to the strengthening of the Ghanaian cedi, which has appreciated significantly against major global currencies in recent months.
The fare adjustment marks one of the first major signs of local businesses translating recent macroeconomic gains into consumer relief.
In a Facebook post on Monday, June 16, PassionAir said the decision was aimed at making domestic air travel more affordable as operational costs ease.
Joseph Bukari Nikpe had initially called on domestic airline operators to reduce airfares in light of the recent appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi, highlighting the need for consumers to benefit from improved macroeconomic indicators.
With its latest announcement, PassionAir reaffirmed its commitment to offering competitive pricing without compromising on passenger comfort and safety.
The post noted, “PassionAir is delighted to announce a reduction of up to 10% in airfares across all our domestic routes. This fare adjustment comes in response to the recent strengthening of the Cedi (GHs) against major foreign currencies. At PassionAir, we are committed to ensuring our valued customers benefit directly from positive market developments. As the domestic aviation landscape evolves, we remain focused on offering competitive fares’ that reflect these changes. While maintaining our commitment to the safety and comfort of our passengers, we continue to prioritize making domestic air travel more accessible and affordable for all Ghanaians.
