Amid rumours that Confederation of African Football Association (CAF) might strip off Kenya of the hosting rights for the 2018 CHAN tournament, Kenya Football Federation (FKF) has expressed the due readiness to host the event meant for locally based players.
According to a statement released by Nick Mwendwa, the Kenya FA president, the East Africa country is ready.
“The country shall host CHAN be assured of that,” Mwendwa noted.
This comes amidst fears that Kenya may not be able to host CHAN due to lack of government commitment and preparedness.\
Meanwhile, the CAF inspection team returns to the country on 7th September 2017 to make the final assessment before compiling a report and as well deliver the final verdict whether Kenya will host the championship.
Stadia
Five stadia are ear marked to host the biennaual championship.
Nyayo Stadiu, Kinoru Stadium in Meru, Kipchoge Keino in Eldoret, Moi Stadium in Machakos and Kasarani Stadium are the facilities looked at host the three-week tournament to be played from 11th January to 2nd February 2018..
16 countries including Uganda qualified for the final tournament but 2016 winners Democratic Republic of Congo failed to qualify.
