The Civil and Local Government Staff Association, Ghana (CLOGSAG) has officially embarked on a nationwide strike, disrupting operations across several government ministries, departments, and agencies.
The industrial action, which took effect on March 9, 2026, follows the government’s failure to implement new conditions of service for CLOGSAG members, a matter the association says has remained unresolved for several months.

The impact of the strike was immediately visible at some ministries on Monday morning.
At the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, only eight out of about 100 staff members had reported to work by 10 a.m., according to a staff member who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Similarly, the Ministry of Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions appeared deserted, with no staff available at the reception area to attend to visitors.
CLOGSAG members play key administrative roles within the public service, and their absence is expected to significantly affect routine government operations and public service delivery.

If the impasse between the association and the government persists, the strike could lead to further disruptions in the operations of ministries, departments, and agencies across the country.
