The Committee for Public Accountability (CPA) has formally questioned the legal justification behind the government’s recent takeover of the private jet terminal operated by McDan Aviation at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The confrontation follows the decision by Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) to terminate its Fixed Base Operator (FBO) agreement with McDan Aviation.

Reacting to the development, the Executive Chairman of the Committee, Collins Owusu Amankwah, called for the immediate publication of the contract agreement between GACL and McDan Aviation.

“These are begging questions. What precedent does this set for private investors operating on government concessions? Did Ghana Airport Company Limited obtain a court order before the eviction? Was the McDan Group given adequate notice as required by the government?

“Why were national security operatives involved in a commercial tenancy dispute? What legal basis justified the forceful takeover of this facility?” he asked.

He added that the Committee demands a formal explanation from the Ministry of Transport and has called for parliamentary oversight into the eviction exercise.

“The Committee for Public Accountability will continue to monitor this matter closely and will pursue all lawful avenues to ensure that there’s administrative justice in this country,” Mr. Amankwah said.

The takeover has sparked debate about investor confidence and the role of government in private sector operations, with calls for transparency and adherence to legal processes as key to maintaining public trust.
