The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies is raising flags over price instability in the downstream petroleum sector if the Ghana Revenue Authority fails to address persistent challenges in the sector.
According to the chamber, it has identified various discrepancies in the GRA’s system regarding due date for tax remittance on petroleum liftings.
Despite repeated requests for intervention, the chamber says concerns of members cannot be looked at.
A statement signed by the Chief Executive officer of COMAC, Dr Riverson Oppong said “Unresolved compliance issues and operations uncertainties may lead to interruptions in supply of petroleum products across the country, affecting consumers transportation, industries and household”.
The chamber also warns if concerns are not addressed, members will be forced to pass to consumers in the form of higher fuel prices.
