Mohamed Salah will bring an end to his glittering spell with Liverpool FC at the conclusion of the 2025/26 season, the club has officially announced.

The Egyptian forward has reached an agreement with the Reds to close a remarkable nine-year chapter at Anfield, drawing the curtain on one of the most successful individual eras in the club’s history.

Salah said he opted to make the announcement early out of respect for the club’s supporters, ensuring transparency about his future and allowing fans to prepare for his eventual departure.

The 33-year-old joined Liverpool from AS Roma in the summer of 2017 and quickly established himself as a transformative figure. Since his arrival, he has played a central role in the club’s resurgence as a dominant force in both English and European football.

During his time at Anfield, Salah has helped Liverpool secure major honours including two Premier League titles, the UEFA Champions League, FIFA Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, the FA Cup, and two EFL Cup trophies, as well as an FA Community Shield.

Individually, Salah’s impact has been just as significant. He has scored 255 goals in 435 appearances for Liverpool, placing him third on the club’s all-time top scorers list. He has also claimed the Premier League Golden Boot on four occasions, alongside numerous other individual accolades.

Despite the announcement, Salah remains fully focused on the remainder of the current campaign, with Liverpool still competing for honours this season. The club indicated that formal celebrations of his legacy will take place later in the year when he officially bids farewell to Anfield.

His departure will mark the end of an era for Liverpool, with Salah widely regarded as one of the greatest players to ever wear the famous red shirt.
