Ghana has officially kicked off a nationwide fundraising drive ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the launch of a high-profile raffle initiative designed to support the Black Stars’ campaign.
The event, held on March 18, 2026, at the Ministry of Finance in Accra, was spearheaded by the Ministry for Sports and Receeation in partnership with the Ghana World Cup Fundraising Committee. It brought together key stakeholders, government officials, football administrators, and celebrities, all united in a shared vision to rally support for Ghana’s senior national team.

Leading the launch was Sports Minister Kofi Adams, who emphasized the importance of collective national effort in ensuring a successful World Cup campaign. He noted that the initiative is not only about funding the Black Stars but also about investing in long-term football development, including infrastructure and grassroots programs.
Chairman of the fundraising committee, Ampem Nyarko, echoed similar sentiments, highlighting the need for sustainable financing models to reduce reliance on government support. He encouraged Ghanaians at home and abroad, as well as corporate institutions, to actively participate in the raffle.

The raffle offers a range of exciting prizes aimed at boosting fan engagement. Participants stand a chance to win exclusive Black Stars memorabilia, unique travel experiences, and all-expenses-paid trips to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted across Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
Adding glamour to the event was the presence of top Ghanaian musicians, including Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy, whose attendance underscored the entertainment industry’s support for the national team. Their involvement is expected to further drive public interest and participation in the initiative.

Organizers say the raffle is designed not only to raise funds but also to promote national unity and pride, giving fans a direct opportunity to contribute to the Black Stars’ journey on the global stage.
With preparations already underway for the tournament, the fundraising campaign is seen as a crucial step in ensuring the team is adequately resourced to compete at the highest level while strengthening Ghana’s football ecosystem for the future.
