A book of condolence for the late Ghanaian highlife legend, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, will be officially opened to the public starting Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at his private residence in Accra.
This was announced in a statement issued by the Fosu family’s legal representatives, Baba Jamal & Associates, in a statement dated Sunday, July 27.
The family expressed deep appreciation to Ghanaians for the outpouring of love and support since the passing of the music icon.
Daddy Lumba died on Saturday, July 26, at the age of 60 while receiving treatment at the Bank Hospital in Accra.
The news of his passing has sparked widespread grief across the nation, with tributes pouring in from fans, industry colleagues, and political figures.
As part of plans to honour his memory, the family has outlined a number of events.
The book of condolence will be open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at his Kinshasha Crescent residence, House No. 12 (GA-332-9264).
“As part of the arrangements to honour his memory, the Fosu family, wishes to announce the following events to be organized in his honour: Book of Condolence in honour of Daddy Lumba:
Venue: Private residence of the late Daddy Lumba at Kinshasha Crescent, house number 12 (GA-332-9264) Start Date: Tuesday, 29th July 2025. Time: 9:00 a.m. 4:00 p.m. daily”.
In addition, a candlelight vigil, spearheaded by the Creative Arts Agency, will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at Independence Square, starting at 6:00 p.m.
The family has appealed for continued respect for their privacy during this difficult time, while inviting the public to join in celebrating the life and legacy of Daddy Lumba, whose contribution to Ghana’s music industry remains unmatched.
Meanwhile, management of the late artist has confirmed receiving assurances from the Presidency that the revered musician will be given a state-assisted and befitting burial.
Further details of the funeral arrangements are expected to be announced in the coming days.
