Below is the full statement

The Member of Parliament for the Builsa South constituency, who doubles as the deputy minister of education, Hon.Dr. Apaak has fully funded a mock examination for all 765 candidates across all 25 public junior high schools across the Builsa South district. Out of the 765 candidates who registered for this year’s BECE, 396 and 369 are girls and boys, respectively. The initiative is to help prepare the candidates adequately for the upcoming final BECE examinations in early June 2025.

The district chief executive, Hon. Madam Musah Anne, together with a team from the district education directorate led by Mr. Akumzeyam Stephen went around all the schools to monitor the progress of the examination. The visit offers the DCE the opportunity to gain first-hand information and also understand the challenges facing the schools across the district that impede effective teaching and learning in the district.

The Hon. DCE assured both teachers and students of Hon. Dr. Apaak’s continued support and readiness to collaborate with stakeholders to ensure that there is access to quality education for all children of school-going age across the district. In her concluding remarks, the honourable DCE advised the students, especially the candidates, to desist from engaging in the usage of illicit drugs such as tramadol, widely known as RED. According to her, these illicit drugs will have a debilitating, lasting negative effect on their lives.

Mr. Akumzeyam Stephen, the deputy director of education, on his part, seized the opportunity to appreciate the MP for his support for education in the district. He cited the MPs provision of furniture for schools, organizing extra classes, organizing quizzes, building and renovation of dilapidated schools, and the distribution of mathematical sets for all candidates each year ever since he became their Member of Parliament.

Mr.Akumzeyam assured all candidates who excel with distinction in the upcoming exams that they will receive a scholarship package from the MP.
