DStv subscribers across Ghana will from today begin enjoying free upgrades to higher subscription packages and reduced tariffs, following a landmark deal between the Government of Ghana and MultiChoice Africa.

As part of the new package, customers who renew their subscriptions will automatically be boosted to the next bouquet tier at no additional cost.

This means Paddy subscribers move up to Access, Access to Family, Family to Compact, Compact to Compact Plus, and Compact Plus to Premium.

Even Premium customers are included, with automatic entry into draws for fully paid trips to Premier League matches.

The rollout, which runs from October to December 2025, will see households gain access to more sports, movies, documentaries, and family content without paying more.

Compact Plus customers, for example, will now enjoy channels such as M-Net and additional SuperSport feeds, while Compact viewers gain access to M-Net Movies 3, DreamWorks, and UEFA Champions League coverage.

Family subscribers will now watch Universal TV, Cartoon Network, BBC Lifestyle, and SuperSport LaLiga.

The upgrades come alongside major price reductions announced by the government.

Subscription costs across several bouquets have been slashed by 33 to 50 percent, effective today. For instance, the Compact Plus package, which previously cost GH₵570, is now GH₵380.

Communications Minister Sam George hailed the development as a breakthrough for consumers. “With this new development, would you consider this a win for Ghana? Absolutely. There’s no other way to describe it. Very, very big win for Ghanaians right now,” he said in an interview with Starr FM.

He added that the new tariffs ensure consumers still access their preferred content but at far lower prices, easing household expenses while maintaining value.

The initiative follows years of public complaints about high DStv costs in Ghana compared to neighboring countries.

Government engagement with MultiChoice and regulatory intervention by the National Communications Authority earlier this year paved the way for the new measures, which will be reviewed quarterly.
