Ghana’s foremost and leading cyber security and digital forensics firm, e-Crime Bureau, on Saturday, December 3, 2022, recognized and awarded the Cyber Security Consulting Brand of the Decade at the 4th National Communications Awards at the Labadi Beach Hotel.

In its 11 years of existence, the organization has remained consistent in providing cyber security-related support for organizations from a variety of sectors, including security and law enforcement, stakeholder groups, civil society organizations, and individuals, in addressing the numerous risks and cyber threats introduced by digital innovation. In June 2012, the Bureau collaborated with the Ghana Police Service/Criminal Investigation Department (CID) on the e-Crime Project to develop the capacity of crime officers across the country on investigative responses to the problem of cybercrimes and other electronic-based criminal activities in Ghana. Since then, it has assisted law enforcement agencies with digital forensic investigations, leading to the Bureau’s technical assistance in establishing a digital forensics laboratory for the Criminal Investigation Department in 2020.

Through its managed security services and SOC operations, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing, cyber threats intelligence, security intelligence, and the development and review of cyber security governance frameworks, among other things, the e-Crime Bureau has assisted many organizations in developing technical, human resource, and cyber security governance capacities to deal with challenges associated with IT systems. The e-Crime Academy has impacted greatly on the cyber security skills needs in Ghana and the West African sub-region by training many organizations, professionals, and individuals in awareness, technical, and certification programs in cyber security and digital forensics-related courses.

The Bureau is currently partnering GIZ and the Pan-African E-commerce Initiative to improve fraud and cybercrime prevention and detection mechanisms to protect investments in the e-commerce space.

A significant contribution to the communications industry has been its collaboration with MTN Ghana between 2018 and 2020 in building capacity of Crime Officers of the CID, Magistrates/Judges of the Judiciary and media personnel to fight the mobile money fraud menace in Ghana. Other significant initiatives with partners and organisations are in the areas of e-commerce fraud, child online protection, industry sensitizations, cybersecurity awareness campaigns and other media sensitization efforts have contributed immensely to improve the cyber hygiene and culture of Ghanaians in the cyberspace.

The Awards event was organized under theme “The Digitalized Economy: Innovation for National Development” by the Africa Digitalization Impact Project and RAD Communications Group to celebrate and honor individuals and organisations in the media and communications space for their contributions towards developing a sustainable industry. The event was attended by distinguished institutions and personalities across public, private organisations, media, advertising and communications bodies. The event unveiled the 3rd Edition Brand Focus Africa Magazine and celebrated two (2) illustrious media personalities, Mr. Kwabena Anokyi Adisi (Bola Ray) and Oheneyere Gifty Anti for 25 years of media work. The event also honored one of Ghana’s long-standing leaders in the advertising industry, Mrs. Norkor Duah.

Leading the e-Crime Bureau Team to receive the Award, Mr. Bekoe Palmer-Buckle, a Senior Consultant at e-Crime Bureau, appreciated organizers for the nomination and recognition. He further dedicated the Award to the numerous clients, stakeholders, institutions, and staff that have supported the brand over the past decade. He iterated the Bureau’s commitment as an indigenous Ghanaian brand and admonished Ghanaians to believe and invest in local businesses to create opportunities as well as build sustainable and globally competitive African brands. He stated that e-Crime Bureau will continue to invest in systems and technology to provide security to organisations and individuals to sustain recent gains of Ghana’s cyber security development.
