The Kade constituency secretary of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye has declared his intention to contest the Parliamentary primaries of the party when nominations are opened.

The popular youth activist in Kade is affectionately call Okyeman Lawyer and an experienced politician who has risen through the ranks of leadership.

Mr. Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye’s vision to become a Member of Parliament is centered on four thematic areas; education, infrastructure, health and most importantly youth empowerment.

Kade constituency is a stronghold of the ruling New Patriotic Party with average 65% votes margin since 1996.

In 2020 parliamentary elections, the incumbent NPP Member of Parliament Agyare Alexander polled 32,550 representing 64.90%, whilst Emmanuel Kofi Nti of the NDC had 14,079 representing 28.07%. Dickson Akwasi Yeboah, independent candidate obtained 3,528 which is 7.03%.

However, Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye says, he is committed to break the NPP dominance in the constituency through effective campaign message that will change the political mindset of the electorates to vote based on competence rather than political loyalty to stimulate  development in the area.

He stated that, Kade Constituency has not seen any major development to improve the living standards of the people due to incompetence and complacency of NPP MPs voted for over the years.

Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye told Starr News, “this decision will either break or make our party. Over the last few years, we have been made to believe that for the past 30 years the Kade constituency parliamentary seat has been the safe seat of the new patriotic party. But for some of us, we think that, this is a figment of people’s own imagination.”

In his candid opinion, previous parliamentary candidates who contested on the ticket of the NDC did not show enough commitment to annex the seat from the NPP.

“Over the last few years our party has been submitting candidates that we believe have not shown interest in annexing the seat from the New Patriotic Party. I have come to submit myself to the critical scrutiny of all party members for you to elect me as your next parliamentary candidate and subsequently the Member of Parliament for Kade Constituency from 2025.”

He emphasized that he will not relent on his commitment to make Kade Constituency an NDC seat.

“My decision to contest this position is not borne out of the fact I always want to occupy positions but I have made a decision to become a Member of Parliament and I shall contest until I become one,” he reiterated.

Kwabena Korankye -Yeboah attended Ghana Senior High School (GHANASS)in  Koforidua.

He obtained Bachelor in Social Sciences, and Msc. Public Policy and Management, University of Cape Coast.

He also has Bachelor of Law from University of Professional Studies (UPSA).

Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye was a Student activist whilst at UCC and served as Public Relations Officer for TEIN, UCC branch.

He became Deputy Constituency Youth Organizer and subsequently Constituency Youth Organizer at Kade.

He is member of NDC Eastern Regional Communications Team, an Elected Assembly Member, Asuom-Amanfrom Electoral Area.

Kwabena Yeboah-Korankye was elected Kade Constituency Secretary of the NDC in 2022.

He is married with three children.
