The Girls Dormitory of W.B.M Zion SHS at Akyem Old Tafo in the Eastern region has been ravaged by fire.
The situation has worsened the accommodation plight of the school.
The affected Girls Dormitory was built in the 1960’s for cocoa transactions but turned into a dormitory when the School was established.
The entire block was converted into a dormitory a couple of years ago to enable the school accommodate more boarding students.

Information gathered indicates that the fire started around 5pm but was doused around 6:30 pm due to the late arrival of Fire Service Personnel.
The incident has displaced about 100 students, destroyed mattresses, books, uniforms, beds and other belongings of the students.
The incident will affect both old students new students expected to begin the double track system next week.
The cause of the fire is not known but electrical fault is highly suspected.
Theresah Takramah, Assistant Head in Charge of Domestic told Starr News that urgent government intervention is needed to mitigate the negative impact on students.

W.B.M Senior High School, formerly known as AMEZSS since its establishment in 1979 had operated in a rented facility until 2016 when the school was compelled to move all students except the Girls Dormitory from the old site to the new site though the facilities were uncompleted .
The new Girls dormitory, teachers bungalow and other classrooms at the new site since construction begun some six years ago have still not been completed.
