A young man identified as Francis Adeze and believed to be 26 years old has drowned in River Kua in the Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region during Easter “beach Party”.
The incident was only noticed Tuesday Morning after the deceased failed to return home. His body was retrieved around 12noon by officials of the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO) and Police, assisted by some local divers.
Information gathered by Starr News indicates the Govinakrom stretch of the Kua River has been turned into a “beach” which was opened for the first time on Easter Monday for revellers in the area to swim and have fun.
Hundreds of residents from surrounding communities including the deceased visited the place to have fun but did not return home.
Traditional rulers in the area were therefore informed and a libation poured at the riverside to pave way for the search of his body which was later retrieved.
Kwadwo Minta, an eyewitness told Starr News “there was blood oozing from the nose of the deceased. But the body was not bloated rather had flat tummy”
He said it was suspected that the deceased was killed by some young men he fought prior to the event.
Meanwhile, the Police in Teacher-Mante community have examined the body for evidence of marks of foul play to aid investigations.
The Ayensuano Acting District Director of NADMO, Joseph Okai Gyan told Starr News, safety measures will from henceforth be put in place at the local beach to avoid a repeat of any of such incident.
The deceased, a native of Teacher-Mante left behind three children.
