Two students of Saviour Senior High School in Akyem Osiem have been arraigned before the Koforidua Circuit Court B for allegedly defiling and indecently assaulting a 14-year-old female student.

The accused, Michael, 18, and Emmanuel, a 17-year-old juvenile offender, are both Form Two boarders at the school, while the victim is a Form One student and also a boarder.

The incident occurred during the school’s inter-sports competition, which took place from Wednesday, January 22, to Friday, January 24, 2025.

During this period, students were given more freedom, and the victim reportedly mingled with the accused persons.

According to the prosecution, on January 23, 2025, at around 5:00 pm, Michael lured the victim to the school’s Science Block, where they met Emmanuel and three other students.

Michael later took the victim to a classroom in the Business Block, where he kissed her and left her alone.

Shortly after, Emmanuel entered the classroom and informed the victim that Michael had “blue balls,” a term the victim did not understand. Emmanuel explained that it meant Michael needed help to release sperm.

The victim reportedly agreed to assist, and Michael returned to the classroom, where he allegedly made the victim undress, inserted his finger into her vagina, and later had sexual intercourse with her. After Michael left, Emmanuel also entered the room and attempted to insert his finger into the victim’s vagina.

A cadet student suddenly appeared on the incident and reported it to the school authorities.

The victim’s mother,Owusua, a beautician residing in Osiem, subsequently reported the matter to the police.

Both accused persons were arrested on January 28, 2025, and admitted to the offense in their caution statements.

During their court appearance, Michael and Emmanuel were charged with defilement, indecent assault, and conspiracy to commit a crime.

They pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Presiding Judge Her Honour Matilda Ribiro granted Michael bail in the sum of GH¢30,000 with two sureties, while Emmanuel was granted bail at GH¢15,000. The case has been adjourned to February 12, 2025, for further hearing.

Chief Inspector Offei Kunadu, the prosecutor, was led by Helen Sabrafo of the Attorney General’s office.
