The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a notorious suspect allegedly involved in multiple robbery and rape and defilement incidents at Okorase Junction-3 area near Koforidua.

The suspect, identified as Isaac Anim, was arrested following what police described as a diligent intelligence-led operation conducted by the Regional Police Intelligence Department (RPID).

According to a statement issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Command signed by Bridget Opoku, Public Relations Officer, investigations began on June 15, 2026, after a female victim reported that she had been attacked, robbed and sexually assaulted.

Police said the suspect allegedly made away with the victim’s iPhone 11, an amount of US$200 and a pack of food before sexually assaulting her and fleeing the scene.

“The Regional Police Intelligence Department commenced investigations into an assault, robbery and rape case reported by a female victim at Okorase Junction 3,” the statement said.

The Command explained that the suspect was eventually arrested at his hideout in Awukugwa near Adukrom on Friday, June 26, 2026.

According to police, a search conducted after the arrest led to the recovery of the mobile phone allegedly stolen from the victim.

“A search conducted on the suspect led to the recovery of the phone which he had used with the victim’s SIM card to fraudulently withdraw money from a mobile money vendor,” the statement added.

Police further disclosed that the suspect was transferred to the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) to continue investigation where he was foumd to be linked to six additional cases involving alleged robbery, rape and the defilement of a 10-year-old girl in Okorase .

“The Eastern Regional Police Command remains resolute in its commitment to protecting the lives and property of all citizens,” the statement stressed.
