The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced the nomination fees for candidates in the upcoming Akwatia Constituency parliamentary by-election, slated for Tuesday, September 2, 2025.
According to a press release signed by Chairperson Mrs Jean Mensa, the filing fee per candidate is GHS 10,000, while female candidates and persons with disabilities (PWDs) will pay a concessionary fee of GHS 7,500.
The Commission will receive nominations from August 11-13, 2025 at the Denkyembour District Office between 9:00am to 12:00pm and 2:00pm to 5:00pm each day.

Prospective candidates are to download nomination forms from the official website between July 30 and August 13, 2025, and submit completed forms in quadruplicate. Each nomination must be supported by two registered voters (as proposer and seconder) and eighteen additional assenting voters in the constituency.
Candidates must also submit two bust-sized photographs with a red background and provide written consent to the nomination.
The by-election follows the passing of Hon. Ernest Kumi, the Member of Parliament for Akwatia, which has created a vacancy in Parliament.
