The Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has announced the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with international engineering firms to support the establishment of two new public universities in Ghana.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, July 15, the Minister disclosed that the agreements were signed with Gharably Integrated Engineering Company (GEICO) from Egypt and the CMS Group from Morocco.
The initiative is part of the government’s plan to establish public universities in Jasikan and Kintampo, aimed at expanding access to tertiary education and addressing regional skills gaps.

According to the Minister, both companies have expressed their commitment to partnering with the Ministry of Education to implement the project.
“The universities will be a transformative step towards inclusive national development, as well as address the skills shortages in the respective regions,” he stated.
The move is expected to boost human capital development and expand educational infrastructure in underserved parts of the country.
