The Member of Parliament for Builsa South, Dr. Clement Apaak has said the level of hardship in the country is unbearable than the Black Stars’ exit from Qatar 2022 World Cup.
His comment comes on the back of continuing verbal attacks on Ghana’s Black Stars failure to beat Uruguay in order to make it to the round of 16 place in the ongoing World Cup.
The senior national team exited from the 2022 FIFA World Cup after losing a 2-0 defeat to Uruguay at the Al Janoub Stadium in Doha on Friday December 2, 2022.
But, the Builsa South lawmaker says the painful exit cannot be compared to the current economic hardship.
“Elements in our society in hibernation seem to have found their voices, writing epistles, about our exit from the World Cup.
“The pain of our exit is nothing compared to the excruciating hardship brought upon us by the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia corrupt government, yet they look on, mute!” Mr. Apaak Twittered on Sunday December 4, 2022.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has apologized to Ghanaians for the Black Stars inability to make to the round of I6 stage of the tournament.
The statement further indicated the technical team and the playing body has learnt some lessons that guide them in their future.
“The Ghana Football Association is extremely grateful to the government, the Ghanaian people, the football family, corporate Ghana, our esteemed sponsors and supporters for their unflinching, unwavering and unalloyed support during the Black Stars FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 campaign.
“We believe that valuable lessons have been learnt from our qualification and participation in the tournament and aim to continue with the positives going into the future,” the statement from the GFA reads.
