The Chief Operating Officer of EIB Network, Klaus vonBackustein, defeated other 75 golfers to win this month’s Bok Nam Kim golf competition sponsored by Republic Bank over the weekend at the Air force Station Burma Camp Golf Course, Accra.

vonBackustein who placed third in the previous month came back strongly to win April’s competition with an amazing Gross of 82 points

The men’s category had two groups of all 75 golfers with EIB’s COO hitting a Front of 44 points, Back of 38 points; Gross of 82 points and a Net of 58 points in Category B to outwit his closest contender Dr Ernest Asimenu, Head of Private Banking, Stanbic Bank, who recorded a Gross of 77 points.

Hutton Addy won the Men’s Category A.

According to the organisers, this month’s competition has been a success, and plans are already underway to make next month’s event even keener.

However, Reid Wiles who is the Competition’s Secretary believes hard work from vonBakustein paid off and called on the media to do more for golf, because the sport has grown and its part of the top sporting activities in the world.

Speaking to the media after the award, vonBackustein said despite being a new golfer, the feat will propel him to match great golfers in the coming days and called on some CEOs for a challenge to match his exploits.

Meanwhile, in the women’s category Aliyah Iddris came tops with a Gross of 81 points to place first beating the likes of Ghana’s number one female golfer Mona Captan.
