Member of Parliament for Ekumfi Constituency, Hon. Dr. Othniel Ekow Kwainoe, has outlined a comprehensive vision to transform education and socioeconomic development in Ekumfi.
Speaking to a gathering of traditional leaders, government officials, security services, educators, students, and community members, Dr. Kwainoe emphasized the critical role of education in driving progress and pledged to make Ekumfi a model for excellence in Ghana.
The event, which marked Ghana’s 68th year of independence, was themed ‘Reflect; Review; and Reset Ghana–Transforming Education and Socioeconomic Development in Ekumfi. Dr. Kwainoe used the occasion to reflect on the sacrifices of Ghana’s forebears while calling for renewed commitment to community development, particularly in education, health, and economic growth.

Dr. Kwainoe assured the audience that the government remains committed to improving and refining the FSHS policy to better serve students.
To address the challenge of attracting qualified teachers to rural areas, Dr. Kwainoe announced a 20% incentive package for teachers posted to Ekumfi and other rural communities. This initiative, he said, aims to ensure that every child in Ekumfi has access to quality education.
Hon. Dr. Kwainoe used the occasion to make several key announcements aimed at further transforming education in Ekumfi, which included Boarding Facilities for Atta Mills and Akyin SHS, a bus for Atta-Mills SHS, the establishment of Ekumfi TVET School, and the construction of teachers’ Bungalow. He also announced the institution of the Ekumfiman Teachers Award, scholarship packages for brilliant students, full scholarships for Physically Challenged Students, sporting Activities, and the establishment of Ekumfiman School League Table to rank schools based on performance, with incentives for top-performing institutions.

Touching on the socioeconomic Transformation of Ekumfi, Dr. Kwainoe emphasized that education is a tool for socioeconomic transformation. He outlined plans to create job opportunities through the establishment of industries such as salt factory and agribusiness ventures. He also highlighted the importance of skills development through the proposed TVET/STEM school, empowering youth to become entrepreneurs and innovators.
Addressing students, Dr. Kwainoe urged them to take their studies seriously and aim for excellence. “Education is your passport to a better future,” he said. To parents, he emphasized the importance of supporting their children’s education and working closely with teachers to ensure their success.
