The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged its supporters to withdraw from various collation centers across the country amid ongoing post-election violence.
This call to action comes after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused NDC supporters of causing chaos, vandalism, and destruction of properties, resulting in loss of lives.
In a statement signed by the party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, the NDC expressed gratitude to its members, agents, and supporters for their dedication during the electoral process.
However, the party emphasised the need for supporters to trust the leadership and technical staff to manage the rest of the process.
President-elect John Dramani Mahama has also condemned the post-election violence, urging supporters to remain calm and focused on the goal of securing victory for Ghana.
The NDC has assured its supporters that the party’s leadership is committed to upholding the will of the people and protecting every vote cast for the NDC.
It stated, “The National Democratic Congress (NDC) extends heartfelt gratitude to all of you our members, agents, and supporters for your unwavering vigilance and dedication during this critical electoral process. Your commitment to safeguarding the integrity of the process has been remarkable and inspiring.”
“At this juncture, we call on all you, our members who have dutifully stationed yourselves at collation centers across the country to now leave these centers and return home. This is the time to trust the leadership and the technical staff of our great party to fully manage the rest of the process.”
