Fifty young Ghanaian creatives are gaining hands-on experience in storytelling, business management and financial discipline through the ongoing Rapperholic Content Creators Challenge, a youth-focused initiative aimed at transforming digital talent into sustainable creative careers.
The programme is being delivered through a strategic partnership between FirstBank Ghana, the University of Media, Arts and Communication (UniMAC) Institute of Film and Television (IFT), and AkunaPod. Together, the partners are equipping participants with practical creative skills while embedding a strong savings culture, an essential pillar in Ghana’s rapidly expanding creator economy.
Branded “25 Days to Rapperholic Challenge,” the initiative blends high-energy digital content creation with practical financial literacy. As part of the programme, each of the 50 selected participants opens a FirstNest savings account with GHS200 seed capital, locked for one year, reinforcing discipline, delayed gratification and long-term financial planning.
Throughout the challenge, participants create and publish daily digital content that documents their creative process and savings journey. This immersive approach exposes them to real-world production schedules, audience engagement expectations and platform growth strategies reflective of today’s digital marketplace.
The programme also features two dedicated financial literacy workshops delivered in partnership with FirstBank Ghana, covering budgeting, savings habits and long-term money management. A structured elimination process, based on weekly reviews and performance assessments, will culminate in the selection of three finalists who will receive professional content creation equipment, while all participants are rewarded with complimentary tickets to the Rapperholic concert.
Speaking on the initiative, Allen Quaye, Head of Retail Banking at FirstBank Ghana, said the Challenge aligns strongly with the Bank’s commitment to youth empowerment and financial inclusion. “At FirstBank, we believe that creativity thrives best when it is supported by sound financial habits. The Rapperholic Content Creators Challenge is not just about building digital talent, it is about helping young creatives develop discipline, structure and a savings mindset that will sustain their careers beyond the spotlight. This partnership reflects our broader commitment to empowering the next generation to turn passion into long-term value,” he said.
A key pillar of the programme is AkunaPod, a vibrant creative hub focused on empowering creators, innovators and changemakers. Working closely with UniMAC-IFT and FirstBank Ghana, AkunaPod is leading content design, coordinating daily activities and providing hands-on mentorship to help participants build consistency, accountability and strong personal brands.
Organisers say the initiative goes beyond content posting, intentionally equipping young creatives with essential skills in business management, reliability, audience development and financial responsibility, positioning them for sustainable success within Ghana’s growing creator economy
