Several people have reportedly been burnt beyond recognition while many injured following a fuel tanker explosion at Ntoaso on the main Accra–Nsawam road in Eastern region.
The explosion, which occurred Saturday dawn, triggered a massive fire that engulfed at least five vehicles and five motorbikes.
Eyewitnesses say the blaze spread rapidly, leaving multiple casualties and causing significant damage.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service, the Police Service, the National Ambulance Service, and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) are currently at the scene assisting with rescue operations and crowd control.
Kwadwo Minta, a witness at the scene said emergency responders are working to extinguish the fire and transport injured victims to nearby health facilities.
Authorities are yet to confirm the exact number of casualties.
