Former Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) Board Chair, Paul Adom-Otchere, has been released from the custody of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) but is not yet free of the legal spotlight.
This was confirmed by the OSP in a social media post [X] on Friday, August 1, 2025.
His brief release follows the OSP’s acceptance of revised bail conditions proposed by his lawyers and backed by the Jospong Group of Companies, which stepped in as surety.
The OSP clarified that the updated terms satisfied the original bail requirements.
Despite this progress, Adom-Otchere and two others — Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah (GACL Executive for Commercial Services) and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea (CEO of Devnest Systems) — are facing formal charges over a controversial revenue assurance contract between GACL and a private firm.
The OSP alleges that the contract was awarded in breach of procurement laws and without the full approval of the GACL Board.
Investigators suspect the deal was handed to a company reportedly linked to the operator of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), raising further concerns about cronyism and lack of due process.
Adom-Otchere was first summoned for questioning on July 31, after being formally designated as a suspect on July 25.
His initial failure to meet bail terms stemmed from an inability to provide landed property in his name — a condition he could not satisfy due to lack of personal real estate holdings in Ghana.
As the investigation continues, the OSP insists that the matter remains active — and far from over.
