George Opare Addo reveals aspects of NDC Youth Manifesto ahead of Launch on Monday

In anticipation of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Manifesto launch on August 12, George Opare Addo, the party’s National Youth Organizer, has outlined some policy initiatives aimed at easing financial burdens on tertiary students and creating job opportunities.

Mr. Opare Addo revealed a plan for the Students Loan Trust Fund to cover admission fees for qualifying students, allowing them to enroll in tertiary institutions without financial stress.

Under this proposal, students would submit their admission letters and complete forms to the Trust, which would then coordinate with educational institutions for automatic registration.

“Most students when they gain admission into tertiary institutions the first years are always turbulent they get admission but the admission fee is so much that they are not able to pay. What the NDC is proposing is that when you get your admission letter, go to the Students Loan Trust Fund, take your form, fill it then leave a copy of your admission letter with the Trust. They will then write to the school to register you. The loan will go to the school to offset the fee so that the fee problem will not exist so that you can enroll without the stress of having to run around. This is indeed a game changer ” Opare Addo said.

Additionally, the manifesto promises to address accommodation challenges by expanding hostel infrastructure in various tertiary institutions.

In terms of job opportunities, he said the NDC intends to create jobs through the establishment of the Street Lightening Authority focused on training the youth in street light maintenance as part of the 24-hour economy security interventions to illuminate streets nationwide.

He also hinted a certification program for master craftsmen and artisans through competency-based assessment by the NVTI is also planned to enhance their professional opportunities.

More so, the NDC aims to offer global internet-based job opportunities for Ghanaian youth.

Deputy National Youth Organizer Ruth Seddoh also added other aspects of the manifesto, including skill training programs and support for young women graduates and entrepreneurs through the establishment of a National Women’s Bank.

These were announced during the “Hall to Hall campaign on the campus of Koforidua Technical University (KTU) as part of a two-day campaign program in New Juaben South.

The campaign activities were climaxed with a “24-hour Economy Walk.” participated by thousands of Supporters of the NDC.

Addressing the participants, various speakers criticized the current government for corruption and misgovernance and pledged a vigorous campaign leading up to the December 7 elections.

Osman Abdulai Ayariga, a deputy National Youth Organizer assured that the youth of the country is going to make the next few months uncomfortable and ungovernable for the NPP government.

Jamal Konney and Richard Etornam Nyarko both Eastern Regional Secretary and Youth Organizer respectively for the NDC urged voters in New Juaben South to support the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Dr. Martin Otu Offei, in ending nearly 20 years of NPP representation.
