The Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has ruled in favor of Basake Holy Stars FC, awarding them a 3-0 victory after their penultimate Ghana Premier League match against Nations FC was abandoned.
The ruling not only awards vital points to Holy Stars but also enforces disciplinary sanctions against Nations FC.
The committee’s decision, endorsed by Chairman Osei Kwadwo Adow, Esq., held Nations FC responsible for the incident that led to the match disruption. As a result, Nations’ counter-protest was summarily dismissed.
However, invoking Article 33(1)(b) of the GFA Premier League Regulations, the committee determined that Nations FC had forfeited the match.
In line with Articles 33(2) and 34(12), the result is officially recorded as a 3-0 defeat for Nations FC.
This outcome provides Holy Stars FC with a crucial points and goal advantage, potentially influencing the final league standings.
Additionally, in accordance with Article 33(5)(a), Nations FC will face an extra three-point deduction from their total points.
The disciplinary measures also carry a financial penalty, with Nations FC fined GHC 2,500. In line with Article 33(5)(b), half of this amount is to be paid directly to Holy Stars FC.
Additionally, the GFA Prosecutor has been directed to investigate reports submitted by match officials, with the responsibility of identifying and prosecuting those accountable for the disruption.
The committee also emphasized that any appeal against the decision must be filed with the GFA Appeals Committee within 24 hours of receiving the ruling.
Bibiani GoldStars were officially crowned league champions following Nations FC’s 2-0 defeat on the final day of the season.
