Ghana football administration faces bigger problems beyond provision of buses  – Nsoatreman CEO to Bawumia

Eric Alagidede, General manager for Ghana premier league side Nsoatreman FC, has reacted to the promise of flagbearer for the NPP indicating that the provision of buses is not the real and immediate problem Ghanaian clubs face in the premier league.

During the launch of the NPP’s 2024 Manifesto, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia introduced a series of sports development policies, focusing on funding, training, tax incentives, and direct support, including providing buses for Premier league clubs in Ghana if elected into office in December.

Reacting to the promise of the flagbearer of the NPP at the launch of the NPP’s 2024 Manifesto, Dr. Bawumia to introduced a series of sports development policies, focusing on funding, training, tax incentives, and the provision of a bus for clubs in the Ghana Premier league on the Game with Benjamin Yamoah, Eric Alagidede emphasized that there are bigger issues that confronts football administration in Ghana.

“I don’t think there is a Premier League club without a bus. These are not the immediate needs of clubs in Ghana, if you ask me”.

“We have real issues to deal with, Hearts, Kotoko, and other clubs who use the stadium and all that are cbarged hugely. We have consistently, government after government, asked for tax rebates for clearing of sports goods at the ports”

“You know what happened? The jerseys we used to play our CAF Confederation game on sunday, I went to pick them up at the airport. They came via DHL, and I was asked to pay over nin e thousand Ghana cedis (Ghc 9000) in terms of taxes. So, I mean, these are things we expect people who are with the Vice President and have knowledge about sports to be advising him and other people who seek to take over power in the Country”.

” Even the national teams that are kitted by Puma, when Puma sends the goods to Ghana, the GFA are made to pay huge fees are the ports to clear good meant for the national teams” he added.

Eric Alagidede further suggested that the focus should be on the issues of how sports clubs are managed rather than solely on the financial aspects of the league.

“As for buses, anybody who wants to run a football club can easily buy one. But seriously speaking, issues of salaries. I mean, pumping money into the league, those are okay”.

“But I think they should look at the issues of how sports clubs, I mean, football clubs and other sporting disciplines bring items into the country, and they have had to pay the same amount of taxes that others involved are also paying”, He said on GHOne TV.
