The Acting CEO of Ghana Gas Company Limited, Judith Adwoba Blay, has emphasized the need to prioritize the Western Region in the company’s social investment efforts.
According to Madam Blay, while Ghana Gas serves the entire nation, it is only fair that the host region of its architecture and infrastructure receive a significant portion of its social investments.
“I believe the Western Region should receive the bulk of Ghana Gas’ social investment, and as CEO, I will ensure that happens,” she assured during her maiden visit to the Western Regional House of Chiefs since her appointment by President John Dramani Mahama.

To achieve this, she announced plans to establish a working group comprising representatives from the Western Regional House of Chiefs and Ghana Gas management. This team will be responsible for planning and monitoring the company’s social investment initiatives.
She further emphasized that this approach aligns with international best practices, particularly the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, which encourage corporate entities to contribute meaningfully to the communities in which they operate.
Madam Blay also pledged to visit the region frequently, promising to work from the Western Region at the end of each quarter of the year and not entirely from Accra.
Touching on the government’s plan to expand Ghana Gas’ infrastructure with a new Gas Processing Plant, she assured that employment opportunities would be fairly distributed. “As CEO, I will ensure that a fair share of jobs are reserved for Western Region residents,” she stated.
The President of the Western Regional House of Chiefs, Nana Kobina Nketia V, on his part advocated for key oil and gas entities locate their headquarters in the region, given its role as the host of the country’s oil and gas resources. He further reposed confidence in Madam Blay’s leadership, touting her as a competent indigene of the region.
Additionally, Awulae Attibrukusu III, Paramount Chief of Lower Axim, urged the CEO and her Deputy, Engineer Dr. Robert Lartey, to collaborate effectively to drive the company’s progress.
Meanwhile, other chiefs in attendance used the platform to highlight the numerous infrastructural challenges in the region and called for Ghana Gas’ support in addressing them.
