A 32-year-old filmmaker, Israel Agbo Forson, has been remanded by the Dansoman Circuit Court after recording and circulating a video threatening to kill any police officer he encountered.

Forson pleaded not guilty to the charge of threat of death.

According to Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the incident began on June 18, 2025, when a National Police Patrol Team stopped an Uber vehicle near the University of Wisconsin, with Forson as a passenger.

The team requested to search the vehicle and Forson’s luggage, but he objected and demanded that officers wear gloves before searching.

The situation escalated into a verbal exchange, during which Forson recorded the incident.

Both parties agreed to proceed to the Taifa Police Station, where the search was conducted in the presence of the District Commander. Forson was subsequently granted police enquiry bail.

However, after his release, Forson recorded another video in which he threatened to kill any police officer who crossed his path and shared it on social media.

On June 23, 2025, police intelligence identified Forson as the individual in the video, and he was arrested.

A search of his residence yielded no incriminating evidence, but the court has adjourned the case, and Forson remains in custody pending further proceedings.

Brief facts

It was the case of Chief Inspector Christopher Wonder, the prosecutor, that on June 18, 2025, the National Police patrol team of the Ghana Police Service, on their official routine day patrol around the University of Wisconsin, stopped an Uber driver and the accused, who was a passenger on board.

He said the patrol team demanded to conduct a search of the vehicle as well as the luggage of the accused person.

However, he said the driver complied with the instruction of the police, but the accused person obstructed the police and asked why they wanted to conduct a search of the car and his luggage.

He said the accused insisted that he would only permit the police to conduct the search if they wore hand gloves.

Chief Inspector Wonder said this led to an exchange of words between the police and the accused.

According to him, during the verbal altercation, the accused recorded the event.

“Finally, both the police and the accused agreed to go to the nearest police station for the search to be conducted before a senior police officer,” he said.

“Upon their arrival at the Taifa Police station, the accused was put before the District Commander, and the search was conducted, and he was handed over to the police for investigations.”

The prosecutor said that on June 18, 2025, the accused was granted police enquiry bail.

He said after his release, the accused made a video of himself threatening to kill any police officer who came his way and circulated it on social media.

“On Monday, June 23, 2025, intelligence led to the identification of the individual in the said video as the accused, Israel Agbo Forson, aged 32 years, a filmmaker. The accused person was apprehended, and his place of abode was searched, but nothing incriminating was found,” he said.

He said after investigations, the accused person was charged with the offense and brought before the court.
