Ghana sets world record with 5,000 Entrepreneurs March in Accra

Ghana has once again taken the spotlight on the global stage as over 5,000 entrepreneurs from across the world joined the Global Entrepreneurship Festival (GEF) 5,000 Entrepreneurs March in Accra, a history-making event championing sustainable development, youth empowerment, women in business, and innovation.

Held under the theme “The AI-Powered Entrepreneur: Creating a Sustainable Planet,” the walk has been described as the largest entrepreneurship march in the world, symbolising unity in driving the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.

Executive Director for Initiatives, Sustainability, and Partnerships at GEF, Dr. Joy Smart Francis, said the march goes beyond breaking records; it represents a powerful call to action.

“This is not just a record-breaking march. It is a call to public and private sector participation, multilateral partners, investors, and policymakers to walk together toward a world where innovation creates dignity, equality, and opportunity for all,” she told JoyNews.

The event serves as a curtain-raiser for the Global Entrepreneurship Festival 2025, slated for November 21 to 23 in Accra, which will gather 10,000 entrepreneurs, investors, and policymakers from around the globe to discuss artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, and sustainability.

Key highlights of the upcoming festival include the Global Leadership Forum, International Women’s Congress, and the Global Recognition Awards, which will honour outstanding innovators and changemakers across sectors.

Organisers say the 5,000 Entrepreneurs March represents Ghana’s growing leadership in advancing inclusive prosperity and positioning Africa as a hub for innovation and sustainable development.

“This movement proves that Africa’s entrepreneurial spirit can lead the world toward a more equitable and sustainable future,” Dr. Francis added.

The GEF team has also called on development partners, bilateral missions, and global institutions to join hands in advancing shared prosperity across continents.
