Government spokesperson, Anthony Kwame Julius has cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stop assuming blind loyalty from voters, stressing that Ghanaians are not bound to any political tradition regardless of past allegiances.
“The NPP should realise that people of Ghana are not robots sworn to any political party and will by all times stick to them,” he said during his appearance on The Verdict with Isaac Addae on Starr 103.5 FM on Tuesday evening.
He criticised the party for failing to properly assess its loss in the 2024 elections, noting that its leadership seems more focused on internal politics than addressing the pressing needs of ordinary Ghanaians.
“When you lose power, it is about those things rather than analysing the issues that go into the people’s livelihood,” he stated.

Mr. Julius also weighed in on recent public reactions to President John Mahama’s controversial remark questioning whether voters were “stupid,” explaining that the President was making a deeper point about Ghana’s economic realities.
“That is why the President asked, ‘Are they stupid?’ and they were offended. It is the economy,” he added.
He concluded that the NPP’s obsession with internal party leadership battles after electoral defeat only proves their disconnection from the real concerns of citizens.
“That is why immediately after they lose power it is about primaries, who leads the party, who holds power,” he said, urging the opposition to focus on national interest over political survival.
