Founder and CEO of Glitz Africa, Claudia Kwarteng Lumor, has explained that her decision to contest as the parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom is driven by a deep sense of service rather than political ambition.
Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray on Thursday, January 22, 2026, Lumor said her move into frontline politics is a natural progression of her 15-year journey focused on empowerment.
“Contesting as Oforikrom parliamentary candidate is all service for me. My calling has always been serving,” she said.
Lumor highlighted that her work over the years has centred on creating opportunities for both young people and women, adding that holding public office provides a broader platform to expand that impact.
According to her, the idea of representing Oforikrom in Parliament has been encouraged by residents of the constituency for years.
“There are people that know me from the Oforikrom constituency. They’ve always said, ‘Claudia, we would love for you to be our MP,’” she noted.
Despite the repeated calls, Lumor admitted she was initially hesitant to step into frontline politics, preferring to operate behind the scenes to influence policy and hold leaders accountable.
“I always felt like, let me be where I am and be the person that pushes politicians to get the work done,” she said.
She added, however, that answering the call to serve at a national level offers a unique opportunity to contribute more directly to governance and community development.
