The GNPC Foundation has handed over 10 newly constructed boreholes for some communities in the Upper East Region to help alleviate the dire water challenges of the people; easing access to safe drinking water.

The beneficiary communities include Luisa Guuta (Kantaga), Piisa Kpasaasa, Kasiesa Yimona (Builsa South/Fumbisi), Missiga, Kutanga, Sagabo Naa Gbewa Primary and Asikiri (Bawku Municipal). The rest are Ayopia, Nyariga Nayire and Adakuru (Bongo).

During a symbolic commissioning ceremony at the Naa Gbewa Primary School, Bawku, Dr Dominic Eduah, the Executive Director of GNPC Foundation, expressed his delight at the opportunity to hand over to the Upper East, a share of Ghana’s oil revenue as the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation seeks to support communities in need of basic amenities.

Touching on the key focus of his outfit, the Executive Director said that GNPC has taken the bold step in setting up a fully operational entity in its Foundation to be responsible for the Corporation’s CSR drive to enhance the capacities of individuals and impact the lives of Ghanaians. “Our 3 pillars ensure that our activities touch on some of the salient needs of Ghanaians – Social and Economic empowerment, Health, Education and Infrastructure,” he stated.

Dr. Eduah said “the GNPC Foundation will continue to play its part in contributing to nation building,” and challenged other organizations to take CSR seriously to ensure lives and communities are positively affected.

Hajia Hawa Ninchema, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Bawku, reading a speech on behalf of the Regional Minister, lauded GNPC’s complimentary efforts in supporting government’s agenda to provide basic social amenities for all Ghanaians.

She further urged the Corporation to come to the Municipal’s aid in the area of health and education infrastructure as many communities still faced a lots of challenges.
