The Government of Ghana has released a total of ₵8,989,866 as feeding grants for learners in special needs schools across the country.
This was announced by the Ghana Education Service (GES) in a statement issued on Wednesday, June 25, 2025.
According to the statement, the disbursement covers all special schools, reflecting the government’s continued commitment to promoting inclusive education and supporting the welfare of learners with special needs.
“The Management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) wishes to inform the general public-particularly stakeholders in Special Needs Education-that the Government of Ghana has released the feeding grant of Special Needs Schools across the country. A total amount of GHC8,989,866.00 has been paid. This covers the feeding grant of all the learners,” the statement read.

The GES commended school heads, staff, and students for their patience, dedication, and resilience, adding that the timely release of the grant will help improve conditions in the schools.
Management of GES also expressed appreciation to the government for prioritising special needs education and pledged to continue working with all stakeholders to ensure equitable and quality education for every learner, regardless of ability.
