A businesswoman Ida Adjoa Asiedu has submitted her nomination form to contest the parliamentary primaries of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ayensuano Constituency in Eastern region for a second attempt.
In the year 2020, Ida Adjoa Asiedu contested the former Member of Parliament for the area then incumbent Ayeh Paye but lost marginally.

However, the NPP MP lost the parliamentary seat to the NDC in 2020 parliamentary election when defeated by opposition National Democratic Congress candidate Addy Saforo Teddy, by 19,221(47.31) votes against 18,970 (46.71%).

Hon Ayeh Paye is staging comeback while Mark Okraku-Mantey Deputy Minister for Tourism is making his first attempt.

However, addressing the media after filing her nomination form, Ida Adjoa Asiedu was confident she is the best candidate to win back the Ayensuano parliamentary seat for the NPP.

“The Constituency is at the crossroads. We are confronted with the decision to remain an orphan constituency or present an acceptable candidate to restore our relevance in the political space by wining back our seat”.

She said “Ghanaian electorates now vote for parliamentary candidates based on their worth and not necessarily the political party they belong to. The worth of an aspirant is measured by; What the person has done in her private capacity to advance the development of the community and the people. What she promises to do when given public resources. A test of her integrity in committing herself to her words. Going into the 2024 elections, the changing dynamics in the voting pattern in Ayensuano makes it imperative for our party to put its best foot forward. It is in this light, that, we obviously do not need a soothsayer to tell us, that, Ida Adjoa Asiedu is the best foot for the NPP going into the 2024 general election”.

Addressing hundreds of enthusiastic polling station executives and supporters of the party who were singing and drumming in support, Ida Adjoa Asiedu said it is evident that she never deserted the constituency after losing the primaries in 2020.

That, she continued to role out community intervention projects dubbed ”Impacting Communities, Improving Livelihood,” aimed at improving various deplorable roads in farming communities, enhancing quality education, youth empowerment, and healthcare.

In terms of job creation, she has constructed a Paper Mill manufacturing company at Anum in the Constituency for the production of tissue papers and other paper products under One district one factory initiative.

The company she said that will provide over 300 direct job opportunities for the youth.

She assured that, the power of education will be leverage under her leadership as MP for the area by sponsoring and securing scholarship opportunities for brilliant students in the Constituency to pursue engineering, medicine, Law and other tertiary related programs as part of the broader plan to breakdown the quagmire of poverty.

Ida Adjoa Asiedu further said she will relentlessly continue to mobilize resources through her none for profit social intervention program “the Abadae3 Care Plan,” to aide poor and vulnerable families in the Constituency.

She assured of supporting farmers in the area by establishing 100,000 -capacity nursery, mobilize agrochemicals and various farm inputs to support farmers at subsized prices, and most important lobby for rehabilitation of roads to all farming communities in the area.

Ayensuano Constituency is a vibrant farming area however faced with deplorable roads affecting transportation of food stuffs.

Some electorates said they will not vote in 2024 if the roads are not fixed stating they have been deceived by governments for far too long.

Abusuapanyin Kofi Boadu, who spoke on behalf of the local chiefs decried the poor state of roads in the area.

He said few roads awarded to contract have also been abandoned after the 2020 elections.

He stated that Nananom have lost hope in politicians but Ida Adjoa Asiedu seems to present a new hope for the Constituency.
