The Ministry of the Interior has announced plans to digitise all permit and licence-related services by the end of 2025.
According to the Ministry, process mapping for 16 core functions; including services such as immigrant quota permits, dual citizenship, arms and ammunition imports, and private security licences; has already been completed.
Speaking at the Meet the Press session in Accra on Monday, July 14, the Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, said the digitalisation drive is aimed at improving transparency, efficiency, and access.
“This intervention, when rolled out latest by the end of the year, is expected to streamline workflows, reduce delays, and enhance public access to services,” the Minister stated.
He added that the manual processing of these services has often resulted in bureaucratic bottlenecks and frustration for applicants. By moving operations online, the Ministry hopes to promote accountability and cut down significantly on turnaround times.
