Invest in orphan constituencies in the Northern Region to maintain our majority – IT Specialist

The Chief Executive Officer of Koyasco InfoTech Limited and Ishe Huss Company, Mr. Ishmael Abdul-Hamid, is calling on supporters and financiers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) to urgently increase their investments in orphan constituencies in the northern regions, where the party has lost ground to the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Mr. Abdul-Hamid firmly believes that reinvesting in these critical areas is essential for galvanizing voter support, strengthening party infrastructure, and enhancing campaign efforts. This strategic focus is crucial for securing a decisive victory for the NDC’s presidential candidate in the upcoming general election on December 7, 2024. He strongly asserted that these investments are vital for fostering unity and broadening support, which will enable the party to reclaim seats and maintain a commanding majority in Parliament.

“Today, as devoted supporters of our party, we must take decisive action to extend financial support to our orphan constituents. We must offer this support, whether they win or lose, for the benefit of our presidential candidate. Every party donor must step up now to assist all orphan constituents, relieving the strain on our candidates who are already facing overwhelming demands in their campaigns,” he asserted forcefully while addressing supporters.

Mr. Ishmael Abdul-Hamid made a decisive call to action when he donated 5,000 T-shirts, 2,000 scarves emblazoned with NDC party paraphernalia, and an undisclosed sum of money to each orphan constituency in the northern region through party leaders.

He pointed out that the NDC’s failure to secure orphan seats from the NPP in the region was due to the financial shortcomings of the candidates during their campaigns. “We must urgently support our orphan constituencies without hesitation. The NDC representatives in these areas require our backing now to amplify their votes. This is why I am taking action to bolster these constituencies for a resounding victory for former President John Mahama and all our parliamentary candidates,” he asserted.

Moreover, he commended the candidates for actively campaigning despite facing significant resource challenges. “Victory is within our grasp, even with the limited resources in the northern region. We must provide them with the necessary pickup vehicles; let’s get it done!” he declared to the grassroots supporters.

Election Activities

The northern region comprises sixteen constituencies, and in the 2020 election, the NDC decisively lost eight of these seats to the NPP. The constituencies at stake—Tolon, Yendi, Bimbilla, Karaga, Nanton, Tatale, Gushegu, and Mion—are critical areas for the party’s future success.

Mr. Ishmael Abdul-Hamid, an accomplished IT specialist, spearheaded a week-long outreach program that effectively mobilized members from various constituencies. This initiative engaged NDC supporters in orphan constituencies through dynamic football matches and vigorous door-to-door campaigns.

During his impactful visit to Nanton, a football gala was organized specifically for first-time voters. This event was strategically designed to energize and rally the NDC’s base for upcoming challenges. In Tamale, which includes the Tamale North, Tamale South, Tamale Central, and Sagnarigu constituencies currently represented by the NDC, party T-shirts were donated to various NDC parliamentary candidates to support their campaign activities.

Additionally, cash donations were made to over 40 youth groups across various constituencies to enhance their door-to-door campaign initiatives. When asked why he is investing in the party’s youth structures at his age, he explained, “When the party was in power, we benefitted. Now that it is in opposition, we must support it to bring it back to power. If the economy were better, I wouldn’t need money from the government or the party because we have businesses. The poor economy under the NPP government is affecting us. This is why we must invest in the NDC’s grassroots structures to restore the party to power and improve the economic conditions for businessmen and women.”

While campaigning door-to-door in the Tamale North constituency, he urged all first-time voters and market women to believe in HE John Dramani Mahama’s transformational plans and vote decisively for him to help improve their situation.

Election education and technology issues

During his tour of the northern region, Mr. Ishmael Abdul-Hamid firmly addressed NDC grassroots leadership and supporters. He confronted the allegations regarding an internet challenge directly, stating that intelligence reveals a deliberate effort by the NPP and the National Communications Authority (NCA) to sabotage internet connectivity on Election Day. He assured everyone that the NDC had a powerful system in place to counter any such interference and issued a strong warning against these underhanded tactics.

“Even if the NCA attempts to shut down internet connectivity on Election Day, the NDC will have a solid and efficient method to collate our results in real-time,” he asserted.

Concluding his campaign tour, he launched an essential initiative to educate voters on the correct way to cast their votes, emphasizing the need to prevent spoilt ballots. He called on all Ghanaians who care about their country to vote decisively for His Excellency John Dramani Mahama (HE JDM) and all NDC candidates throughout the northern region and beyond.

“We are on the path to victory on December 7, 2024, and nothing— I repeat, nothing—will derail this effort, as it is ordained by God. Ghanaians will not continue to suffer under this corrupt Nana Addo-Bawumia government,” he declared, rallying his supporters.

Throughout his tour, he made it clear that people of all ages in the northern region are united in their demand for the return of John Dramani Mahama as President of the Republic of Ghana. He emphasized that groundbreaking initiatives like the coders’ program and the 24-hour economy constitute the best policies proposed by the NDC, vital for addressing the challenges faced by the Ghanaian youth.
